Case Study - Telematics 1
OEM Integrated Safety and Security System
Client's Challenge:
A large automotive tier 1 was awarded a contract by an automotive manufacturer to develop a highly integrated, OEM telematics system. This company excels in the development of hardware components, but, at the time, lacked the required staff, processes, and systems for large-scale software development and turned to Logikos to develop the application software.
Logikos' Solution:
Logikos helped to put in place a disciplined software engineering process suitable for this highly visible project. Logikos analyzed the existing software to identify and re-write significant portions of the software from the 1st-generation product in order to ensure a stable foundation. Additional functionality was engineered to satisfy the requirements of the 2nd-generation Telematics product. To help with the verification of the software, Logikos set up and maintained a complex set of configurable benches for testing purposes.

Functionality that Logikos either engineered from scratch or significantly re-developed includes:
- voice and data communications handling (AMPS),
- hands-free user interface menu structure (voice recognition and audio prompts),
- servicing of data center requests,
- vehicle platform configuration management,
- vehicle interfaces including discrete and vehicular buses (lights, horn, locks, etc)
- power (battery) conservation management,
- self-diagnostics and end-of-line (EOL) tests, and
- flash (application) programming via vehicle bus
The project was completed within the required schedule and was considered by both this tier 1 supplier and the end automotive manufacturer to be a huge success. Logikos'' disciplined development approach was recognized as a key contributor to this success.
